France are through to the quarter-finals of the Brazil 2014 World Cup and they have the Nigerian skipper and his deputy to thank for it.

An otherwise excellent display in the Round of 16 showdown against European power France

at the Estadio Nacional, Brasilia, ended in a heartbreaking 0-2 loss, thanks to errors by deputy captain Vincent Enyeama and captain Joseph Yobo.

The deadlock was broken by Paul Pogba after Vincent Enyeama palmed a corner kick to his head and he gladly nodded home.

Yobo, who was celebrating his 100th cap for Nigeria, turned the occasion into a nightmare with an own goal in the 90th minute.

Africa’s campaign seems destined to come to an end tonight as the continent’s only surviving team, Algeria, will soon embark on what is considered to be a mission impossible against red-hot Germany.
