The State Police Commissioner, David Akinremi, said the suspects were arrested for the various roles they played in criminal activities including rape, theft, vandalization of electricity cables, gangsterism, dealing in human parts, and cracking of IMEI code on stolen phones.

Among the suspects is a fake police officer, and three persons alleged to have ambushed and killed three police officers and two vigilante members on their way to respond to a distress call in Lau Local Government Area of the state.

The police boss explained that the suspects did not only admit their roles in the dastardly act but confirmed that about 20 of them were recruited by one Ahmadu Baka, Of Abare village in Lay Local Government Council.

He revealed that the suspects confessed that the arms they used in killing the officers were given to them by Baka, under the guise that they were to help him confront some miscreants who cart away with his cattle.

Items recovered from the suspects consist of one AK47 rifle, single Barret rifle, a locally made pistol, cutlasses and charms.

While decrying the occurring cases of rape in the state, the police commissioner advised parents to keep a close watch on their female children.
