Residents of Odighi and Odiguete communities in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, weekend, said they were defecting from All Progressives Congress ,APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP, because the APC failed to protect them from rapists and herdsmen who have taken over their farmlands.

Spokesperson of Odighi community, who pleaded anonymity said:”Our people can no longer go to their farms. Our women are being raped and our people are being killed because of the activities of herdsmen.

“We can no longer remain in a party that cannot protect us. The party that brought the herdsmen must go “

Also speaking in Odiguete, a legal practitioner, Mr. Julius Edobor, said the people of Uhiere Ward have lost faith in the APC.

Meanwhile, Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Dan Orbih has appealed to the electorate to verify if their names appeared in the voters’ register recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Orbih made the appeal while receiving defectors from Ikpoba Okha, and Oredo Local Government Areas.
