The South East youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Chidiebere Egwu, has said that the choice of Nigeria’s Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the PDP presidential candidate and former governor Peter Obi of Anambra state as his running mate was the best choice that would rebuild Nigeria’s failing economy and address other challenges facing the country.

He expressed optimism that Atiku will defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 as Nigerians were disenchanted with APC led government which he said has brought untold hardship, increased unemployment and poverty in the country.

The Youth Leader who spoke in Abakaliki, also noted that the youths voted for Atiku massively during the last national convention of the PDP because of Atiku’s Restructuring agenda and his capacity to rescue the nation from the challenges of insecurity, abuse of human rights and rule of law, starvation, unemployment.

Egwu also assured that with Peter Obi as Atiku’s running mate, Ndigbo will vote out Buhari in 2019, as according to him, Nigerians have suffered under the Buhari’s administration.

He noted that though there were skirmishes from the leaders of the South East on nomination of Obi as the Vice President candidate, the youths of the zone were not also happy on the way the youth leaders were being relegated to the background in any decision or issue that concerns the zone.

Egwu, who’s also the deputy national President PDP youths blasted those criticising the governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi; Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremmadu, and other leaders of the South East over their insistence that the process of Obi’s nomination didn’t follow due process, stressing that it amounted to shelving one’s head in his absence.

He said: “We voted for Atiku for some reasons and majority of the youths voted for him. He’s result oriented. He’s not deterred by what the oppositions are saying and he’s making sure he rescues Nigeria from the challenges it’s facing, especially economy, insecurity, lack of rule of law.

“We are committed to making sure we deliver him and that’s where we stand.  All the 36 youth leaders and FCT, and the leaders of youths in the six political zones for which I am one of them, have agreed that we will work very well and canvass for votes and support for our PDP presidential candidate.

“Nigerians are now yearning for positive changes because they’re disenchanted with the APC government which is full of deceit, disappointment, nepotism and visionless, abuse of human rights, fake promises.

“A party that believes in manipulating results but this time, whoever thinks that he will manipulate results, should write his Will because we won’t tolerate that. We have suffered too much under APC and we can’t guarantee the future of children if the party continues to rule Nigeria. Even the fight against corruption is one-sided.

“Atiku’s choice is the best choice coupled with Obi who understands the rudiments of the economy. He will definitely help to rebuild the economy of our country because if we rebuild our economy, lack of job, insecurity, marginalisation, hunger, starvation, will be addressed.

“Ndigbo will vote our Buhari in 2019. Buhari does not believe in restructuring. And anybody running for the presidency and he does not believe in restructuring can’t work. That is why we don’t want Buhari. President Buhari has to vacate Aso Rock in 2019. Igbos are going to vote overwhelmingly for PDP.”

Egwu further called on Nigerians to have hope in the candidature of Atiku and his running mate, as they have the political will and requisite experience to tackle myriads of challenges in the country.
