The Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria said it has issued 4,270 visas to Nigerians from 2016 – 2018.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Valerii Aleksandruk, disclosed this in an interview with journalist in Abuja.

In 2016, the envoy said 600 Nigerians were issued Ukrainian visas and 1,642 in 2017, over 800 of them are students.

Between January and October 2018, he said 2,028 visas were issued to Nigerians, including 1,193 students.

The envoy hailed Ukraine as a choice destination for Nigerian students due to qualitative education and competitive price.

He said about 4,000 Nigerian students are currently studying in various Ukrainian universities.

Aleksandruk therefore extolled the warm bilateral relations between the two countries, noting that Ukraine was among the few that supported Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram militants with the supply of military hardware.

He also reiterated Ukraine’s commitment to deepening the cooperation with Nigeria in all areas, adding that the visit of business mission from Kiev to Nigeria and vice versa had started yielding results.
