The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has called for the immediate sack and resignation of Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Board, Victor Ndoma-Egba and its Managing Director, Nsima Ekere.
Secretary General of IYC, Alfred Kemepado, in a statement yesterday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, noted that the call became necessary after Ndoma-Egba and Ekere emerged senatorial and governorship standard-bearers in next year’s general elections.
It said since their emergence, they and have left the management of NDDC to suffer because of politics. The statement added that Niger Delta issues were too serious for them to handle now because of the distraction due to their campaign activities. He said the NDDC has always been used for politics and that is why it has always underperformed, adding that the duo increased the politicisation of the NDDC by taking the commission to their campaign grounds.
The group stated that Ndoma-Egba and Ekere hardly come to the office these days to carry out their functions because of their campaigns, but they get paid, which is a worst form of corruption.
