BREAKING: Foreign workers, others trapped as 3-storey building collapses in Anambra

A three-storey building located at Okpuno, Otolo in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State has collapsed trapping some mason workers inside.
The building, which reportedly belongs to one Mr. Avoyi Collins, was said to have collapsed about 5:20am on Thursday.
Though no life was lost at the time of filling this report, two out of the eleven Togolese masons working in the building were still trapped in the rubble as at the time of filing this report.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, said: "A distress call was received from the vigilante group in Okpuno that a three-storey building belonging to one Mr Avoyi Collins 'm' collapsed at Okpuno Otolo in Nnewi LGA of Anambra State.
"Police Patrol teams led by the Area Commander Nnewi, ACP Nnanna Ama, rushed to the Scene and cordoned off the Area to prevent looters from taking advantage of the situation to steal.
"Volunteers were also mobilised for the rescue of two trapped victims out of the eleven foreign masons from the Republic of Togo.
"So far, nine of them were rescued alive from the collapsed building while efforts are ongoing to rescue two others who are still trapped inside the debris."
The PPRO said that the rescued victims were rushed to the Community Health Center Okpuno for medical attention even as investigation continues to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
