Gunmen have killed at least two policemen and a civilian in Nasarawa area in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Yakubu Sabo, confirmed the incident to Channels Television on Wednesday.

Mr Sabo disclosed that the policemen were on a foot patrol along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway before they were attacked by the gunmen.

He added that a fierce gun duel took place thereafter, resulting in the death of two members of the patrol team and a civilian driver.

The Command spokesman, however, said some of the assailants escaped with gunshot wounds.

He noted that no arm was taken away by the gunmen due to the repelling gunpower of the police team.

Sabo also revealed that more policemen have been mobilised to the area, with a view to tracking down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
