In a bid to spur enough support for the Super Eagles at the Brazil 2014 World Cup, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has signed a sponsorship deal with Guinness Nigeria Plc to sponsor some members of the club to the tournament.
This is the second time the company is sponsoring the NFSC. The first was the last AFCON 2013 in South Africa where the Super Eagles emerged champions.
The partnership will ensure that the Super Eagles do not lack the moral support and the resilient Nigerian spirit as they tackle their opponents.
According to Austin Ufomba, Marketing and Innovation Director Guinness Nigeria, there is need for the supporters club to be good ambassadors of the country and not hold back such in showing total support for the Eagles.
“In Guinness, this is one of the platforms through which we support the Super Eagles. During AFCON 2013 we took 200 fans to South Africa, and now we are sponsoring members of the NFSC to a major football tournament. We strongly believe that the Eagles will do us proud at the championship and our support remains unwavering because we know our dear national team are truly made of more,” Ufomba said.
In his remarks, NFSC Chairman, Prince Vincent Okumagba, said this is a confirmation of the company’s interest in ensuring that the Super Eagles do not lack the energy provided by the support of the over 160 million Nigerian fans, personified by the Supporters Club in Brazil.
“We all know that Guinness has been the proud and official sponsors of the Super Eagles over the years. They have thrown their weight behind the team through thick and thin. The support and grand reception witnessed after the Super Eagles won the 2013 AFCON is an attestation to a company that truly believes even when others do not,” Okumagba stated.
“With this sponsorship from Guinness, our members are ready to give all it takes to cheer the team to victory from their very first game. We will do all in our capacity to ensure our opponents are overwhelmed by our drums and trumpets and will not stop until victory is ours. We really thank the brewery giant for this fantastic opportunity,” he added.
