The Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful in the Anambra State to fashion out ways to save the country from the current situation it is, by taking critical decision in the forthcoming general elections.
Saraki, who addressed members of the party in Awka during his nationwide tour of the party’s state chapter to canvass for vote, noted that Nigeria needs a digital and well-educated president as it is obtainable in the world over.
He called on partydelegates from the state to shun primordial considerations and sentiments while casting their votes during the party’s presidential primary, adding that Nigeria must be rescued from unrepentant sectional fanatics and ethnic bigots.
The Senate president explained that he was in the state to seek support for the party’s presidential primary election to become PDP flag bearer in 2019. He said: “We need a President who is digitally compliant, a president who can move the country from the present stagnation.
“Someone that can represent Nigerians without giving others seat, while others are standing.
“Nigeria is at a crossroads, and we must redirect our country. People are asking if Nigeria is still one, many are not sure if they are still part of the Nigerian project.”
The presidential hopeful further maintained that western countries, including Asian countries, were progressing as a result of the understanding of their presidents on the need to move their countries forward, not by chance.
He also reminded the delegates on the importance of electing a candidate that would be able to hold the country together and unite it to live up to its name as the giant of Africa.
