The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Saturday declared that the list of all the 40 candidates for elective positions in the forthcoming general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is ready.
The governor made the declaration at the Government House in Oke-Igbehin, Abeokuta while addressing party stalwarts, which included APC members from Ogun East Senatorial district who gathered to ratify the nomination of Honourable Adekunle Akinlade as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming general elections in the state.
Amosun, who said the list would be displayed tomorrow (Monday) for everybody to see, noted that the candidates were derived from a consensus method, which he said was allowed by the party’s constitution.
He however, pointed out that any aspirant or politician who feels dissatisfied with the list is free to challenge it at a “direct primary” of the party which would be organised at an appointed date.
The politicians, particularly those of the Ijebu and Remo extraction of Ogun East Senatorial district of the state had gathered at the government House in Isale Igbehin, Abeokuta to adopt the nomination of Akinlade as the concensus candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
State chairman of the party, Chief Derin Adebiyi however, used the occasion to officially present the party’s consensus governorship candidate to Amosun, thus putting an end to the controversy generated by the consensus arrangement.
Adebiyi also presented the serving state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Peju Adebajo as the party’s running mate to Akinlade.
