A mobile policeman has allegedly killed a driver at a checkpoint at Maisamari in Sardauna local area of Taraba state over N10.

It was gathered that the driver of Peugeot 505 station wagon with registration no TR 496 JAL was stopped at the checkpoint and a mobile police ordered that he must pay N50 before he would be allowed to pass.

The driver, identified as Muhammed Danjuma, aged 56, who hailed from Nguroje, was said to have offered N40 instead of N50 demanded by the mobile policeman, but the amount was rejected by the policeman, insisting that he must give him the balance of N10.

It was gathered that driver brought out N1,000 note and give the policeman, saying he did not N50 but the policeman also rejected the N1,000 note, insisting that the driver must give him the N50.

It was at this point the policeman started beating the driver and shouting that the driver must pay the N50.

A source at Maisamari, Musa Sale, told Daily Trust that the driver collapsed and died following serious beating he received from the policeman.
