Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, at a one-day security summit in Owerri, Imo State, called for a collective effort to fight terrorism in Nigeria.
Speaking at the summit, which was convened by the Inspector General of Police, IG Ibrahim Idris, Obiano stressed on the need for synergy among security agencies, saying that the lack of it was the major cause of insecurity in the country.
The governor, who was represented by the Chairman Vigilante Supervisory Committee, Chief Ikechukwu Aduba, a retired Police Commissioner, urged other states in the country to adopt the security style of Anambra State for a better community policing.
He added: “If all stakeholders get involved in security, the current security challenges will be a thing of the past.”
The summit, which had as theme “Community Policing: Rethinking National Security Framework for National Development”, was well attended by government functionaries, captains of industry, traditional rulers among others from the zone.
