Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday abducted the wife of the traditional ruler of Auga Akoko in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State, Olori Olukemi Agunloye

The monarch wife who was kidnapped along with her driver yesterday morning was on her way to Ugbe Akoko for a function.

According to a source,  the armed kidnappers numbering five stopped the driver of the vehicle conveying the monarch wife and dragged them to a waiting car, while they abandoned the monarch vehicle on the road.

The traditional ruler of Auga, Oba Samuel Agunloye who also confirmed the incident explained that his wife was on her way to her hometown to attend a family function when she was kidnapped

According to the monarch, the ugly incident happened between Ise Akoko and Auga saying she was kidnapped along with the driver on their way to her hometown.

He stated that he was alerted when some people saw his car where it was parked at the side of the road and contacted him on phone

He, however, said, all efforts to reach his wife and the driver on phone were not successful and had to contact security operatives in the area.

The monarch said there was no information about the whereabouts of the two people abducted saying the kidnappers had not contacted for any ransom.

Confirming the development,  the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Femi Joseph,  said men of the State police command have swung into action and combing the area.

He said some detectives have been drafted to some strategic places in the area to ensure that the victims regain their freedom unhurt.

“We have put some measures in place to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice,” Joseph said

The PPRO appealed to the public to provide useful information that will help the police to arrest the criminals. (Tribune)
