Kaduna State Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM) , and Sokoto Accountability Coalition for Maternal and Child Healthcare (SACoM) , has hailed their respective State governments on prompt release of total funds allocated to Routine Immunization (RI) in the 2017 budget.

KADMAM and SACoM, the collation of civil society organization made the commendation during a two-day retreat on health sector review and performance, organized by Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) and Strengthening Accountability for Maternal Health in Nigeria (SAMIN), Sunday, in Kaduna.

Isah Gidado, Secretary of KADMAM who spoke on behalf of the coalition, however, called on the Kaduna State Government to strengthen citizens participation and openness of its immunization initiatives by improving state-level CSO's participation in relevant immunization meetings.

"CSOs in Kaduna, who are representatives of the people,  have not been coopted in the RI finance working group meetings despite several advocacies to the State Primary Health Care Development Agency. We are, therefore, making a passionate appeal for inclusion in the 2018 budget implementation for RI," he said.

While commending the Sokoto State Government for improving on the participation of CSOs in the last two quarters of 2017, he appealed to the state government to allow public access to immunization information.

Kaduna and Sokoto State Government had released N128 million and N87million respectively, representing 100 percent of budget provision for RI in 2017.
