Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu yesterday said his findings showed that the budgetary allocation to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu was slashed by National Assembly committees.
President Muhammadu Buhari had while signing the budget said the National Assembly cut provisions for some projects submitted to them and introduced their own.
Among the projects affected is the Enugu Airport. The N2bn allocation to it was cut down to N500m at the National Assembly.
Ekweremadu in a statement by his media aide, Uche Anichukwu said that the National Assembly remained committed to the early completion of the Airport.
Ekweremadu said his findings showed that the cut took place at the level of committees and that hopefully, the affected committees would make the necessary explanations very soon. (Daily Trust)
