The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), says training and re-training of staff is very essential for efficient and effective service delivery to Nigerians.

Mrs Olajumoke Ojetokun, South-East Zonal Director of NAFDAC, stated this while opening a training for NAFDAC Regulatory Officers in Enugu on Tuesday.

“It is important to train staff so as to acquire new knowledge which will guarantee quality service. If you do not train your officers, no new knowledge will be acquired.

“It will be zero in and zero out, therefore, there is need for training and re-training,” she said.

She added that with training and re-training, the society would be sure of consuming quality products, as it was the responsibility of NAFDAC to ensure the consumption of quality products.

Ojotokun said the training would also take place in all the five states within the South East so that every regulatory staff would benefit from it.

Mr Ejike Nnamani, an Assistant Director with NAFDAC, said he gave the lecture as the resource person because he attended the training on the World Health Organisation Good Manufacturing Practice (WHOGMP).

Nnamani said that the purpose of the training was to make the Agency’s Regulatory Staff to acquire new knowledge and carry out their duties effectively.

One of the participants, Miss Tina Eziokwu, said she was very pleased to be part of the training, adding that it would exposed her to new ways of carrying out enforcement and regulations.

It would be recalled that some of the resource persons for the training had WHOGMP in Lagos and they would be sharing their knowledge with other staff to make everyone come up in his or her responsibility.
