Breaking News: Akpabio sacks 2 Commissioners, 6 Board Chairmen

Two commissioners and six Board Chairmen have been relieved of their appointments in Akwa Ibom State. A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Aniekan Umanah, said the sack of the commissioners was part of a minor cabinet reshuffle approved by the State Governor, Chief (Dr.) Godswill Akpabio, CON.

He gave those affected as Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan, and his Rural Development counterpart, Bar. Effiong Abia.

Umanah listed Board Chairmen relieved of their appointments: as the following: Obong Sunny Udom (Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company Limited, APICO); Hon. Patrick Ifon

(Akwa Ibom Water Company Limited); Obong Dan Akai (Akwa Ibom Newspapers Corporation, AKNC); Hon. Alex Nyong (Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC); Hon. John Asikpo

(Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Management Board); and Abom Tony Esu

(Akwa Ibom State Agency for Community and Social Development).

The sack takes immediate effect, the statement said. It added that Governor Akpabio “thanked the affected officers for their services to the State and wishes them success in their new engagements.”
