Sir, thank you very much for the good work you and your indefatigable team are doing in Lagos State. Your great drive in the areas of road infrastructure and general facelift of the Lagos mainland is unequalled. You are, indeed, a proactive governor with zero tolerance for decaying infrastructure and indecent living environment.
However, one of the estates housing your beloved Lagosians is crying for attention. Santos Estate, a gateway to Egbeda-Akowonjo in Alimosho Local Government Area, which was previously known for its serenity has today become an estate existing in the shadow of its old glory, as a result of degraded, dilapidated and impassable roads within the estate.
The then GRA of Akowonjo, so called due to its vantage location at the popular Dopemu roundabout, is begging Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to urgently come to its rescue from total decay. It is inconceivable how the previously sought-after estate was left to rot away.
Sir, the condition of the estate is so bad that from the main gate at Fafore Street by Dopemu roundabout, through Ogundipe Street, Oyemade, Lewis, Bab Shokehinsi, Mohammed, Kao, Adebakin, Adama, Daniel and Philomena streets, to the exit point by Valley Estate gate, is an eyesore. No street in the estate can boast of a good road.
These roads are of tremendous benefit to Lagosians as they serve as alternative routes to motorists plying Shasha and Egbeda to the Abeokuta Expressway. Reason being that if repaired, the routes will equally bring palliative to road-users, particularly this period of on-going reconstruction of Lagos – Abeokuta Expressway.
This write up is to further draw your attention to the plight of residents of the Santos Estate, and to restore the glory of the estate that has been reduced to a slump due the neglect of successive governments in the state. It is also to bring to your notice in line with your directives - on the need for residents to inform you about deplorable roads that are useful to Lagos residents - in your recent town hall meeting.
While thanking you in anticipation sir, I sincerely believe that with your zeal and commitment to continuous innovation and rehabilitation of roads and other deplorable infrastructure in the state, you will urgently make life better for residents of Santos Estate. We await the Akinwunmi Ambode’s touch.
Once again, thank you sir.
