The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has joined the leader of Catholic Church in the world, Pope Francis in condemning the spiralling rise of fake news across the world.
Speaking on this year's world communication Day, Obaze said that fake news is bad, hence it is trouble.
He noted that with general elections approaching, there is the tendency for the trend to escalate.
The retired Diplomat said that rhetoric remains the bedrock of political obfuscation adding that false news stretches rhetoric beyond the acceptable.
Obaze while calling for measures to be put in place to check the trend, urged the practitioners to be above board and retain the interest of the masses in their hearts.
He said: “Let us strive to end fake news, it is indeed “evil”. Communication is key to development efforts, wishing you all a fruitful celebration.
