The Director, Lagos State Directorate for Citizens’ Rights, Mrs. Omololu Idowu Adesina, has decried the prevalent cases of domestic violence, violation of human rights and abuse of drugs by the youths, saying that the trend was becoming worrisome to the present administration in the State.
Mrs. Adesina, who stated during a sensitisation programme held at the Ikeja Local Government premises, said the event was organised to intimate the public with activities of the Directorate and how Lagosians can take advantage of the free legal services provided by the Office.
She said the services of the Directorate could be accessed either at Alausa through the Ministry of Justice or the One-Stop Child Justice Centre domiciled within the premises of the Ikeja LGA.
Adesina explained further that the Office provides free legal assistance to members of the public whose rights have been infringed upon and called on the citizenry not to hesitate in reporting any form of abuse witnessed around them.
The Director added that One-Stop Child Justice Centre looks into issues of Child Rights Law such as lack of protection and parental care, Rights to Education, Rights to Life, Survival and Balanced Development, Rights to Health and Health Services which are protected under the Child Rights Law of Lagos State.
While imploring on all residents to embrace peace and eschew violence at all times, she informed that the sensitisation programme is ongoing and will be done across Lagos State. (lagosstate.gov.ng)
