Bayelsa APC Ward Congress smooth and peaceful: Sylva

Chief Timipre Sylva, Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa, has described the conduct of ward congress in the state as “smooth and peaceful.”

The congress was relatively peaceful in the 105 wards of the eight local government areas in the state.

Our Correspondent, who monitored the exercise in some polling units on Saturday in Yenagoa and Ogbia, observed that delegates turned out early to the venues.

At Yenagoa Wards 2 and 3, Onopa and Amarata Ward 5 materials were early and delegates were fully available as the conduct was orderly in the area.

In Ward 13, Otuabula 1 and 2 in Ogbia Local Government Area officers and delegates were also early enough.

Speaking with journalist in Yenagoa, Sylva said that the congress was smooth and peaceful and stated the party’s commitment to the promotion of democracy.

His words: “The ward congress is orderly and peaceful; here in Bayelsa, we will continue to work hard to bring APC to power; we have put our house in order to ensure that APC win in the next governorship election.

“Today is the ward congress and this is lawful according to the party constitution and I urge all well-meaning people of Bayelsa to support the APC for the change they can see.” he said.

Sylva noted that as a one big family, APC in the state have been able to resolves differences amicably in house, hence the peaceful atmosphere experienced during the ward congresses.

Dr Adebayo Dawuda, leader of the five-man team for the congress in Bayelsa, urged members and all aggrieved persons in the party to forget all their grievances and work toward moving APC forward.

“We know in the political arena, there is always disagreement; our party is like a family and we must continue to work for the interest of the nation and our party.

“On the conduct of the congress, I am delightful over the conduct because we have seen fair and equity in the conduct,” Dawuda said.

He commended party faithful in the state for exhibiting politics of brotherhood and compromise.
