The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday, again, failed to appear before the Senate, once more sending a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Habila Joshak, on his behalf to brief the upper house.
A mild drama played out in the Senate when the upper chamber refused to allow the representative of the IGP gain access into the chamber, on behalf of his boss.
Joshak had arrived to represent the IGP based on Senate summons.
Ibrahim Idris has been since summoned by the Senate to address its plenary over the arrest and ill-handling of Senator Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi West.
The IGP was equally expected to brief the Senate on what the police is doing to stop the invasion of communities and killing of Nigerians by armed bandits and militias across the country.
