BREAKING: Senator Melaye arrested at the airport, foreign trip cut short

Lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has been arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.

He was on his way to Morocco on an engagement said to be sponsored by the Federal Government.

Melaye, who has been having running battles with the Nigerian Police and Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, announced his arrest on Monday morning on his Twitter handle.

He tweeted: “I have just been arrested at the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport on my way to Morocco for an official engagement sponsored by the Federal Govt after checking in.”

No details about the reason for his arrest were immediately available.
