Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated former Senate President, and Senator representing Benue South, Sen. David Alechenu Mark, on his 70th birthday.

In a statement, on Monday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, Governor Okowa felicitated with the family, friends and political associates of the former military officer, who served the country in various capacities as Military Governor, Minister and Senate President.

He extolled the leadership qualities of the former Senate President describing him as a democrat, astute administrator and a leader of impeccable disposition.

Okowa said: “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I wish to felicitate with Nigeria’s foremost lawmaker per excellence, the most ranking and distinguished Senator David Mark, on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary celebration on Sunday, April 9, 2018.”

The Governor noted that the remarkable achievements recorded by the 6th & 7th Senate was unarguably due to Senator Mark’s indefatigable role as the President of the 6th & 7th Senate.

He particularly extolled the intelligence with which Senator Mark piloted the affairs of the National Assembly when he served as President of the Senate.

“In a life that has seen you clock the enviable age of 70 years amidst your achievements in public service and political endeavours, which includes your record election into the Senate for a consecutive five times, and your emergence as Senate President for two tenures, there is great cause for you, members of your family, your many associates, protégés and well-wishers to thank Almighty God for His benevolence upon you.

“As you deservedly celebrate this birthday, it is my prayer that Almighty God continues to bless you with robust health and many more years of happiness,” the Governor said

As he turns a septuagenarian, the Governor commended his devotion and dedication to the cause of peace and stability in Nigeria during the eight years he served as Senate President.

Okowa said the wealth of experience the senator has gathered over the years would be most useful for the country’s development, especially in his devotion to making the country a society governed by the tenets of rule of law and justice.
