Federal College of Agriculture Ishiagu matriculates 1,000 •Provost declares zero tolerance for cultism, immorality, drug abuse

Provost of Federal College of Agriculture Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, Prof. Justina Mgbada, on Thursday warned the newly matriculated students to shun social vices ranging from forgery to cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, exam malpractices and immoral acts capable of truncating their academic pursuit and future endeavours.


The Provost, who handed down the warning during the 30th matriculation ceremony of the institution, noted that anyone found engaging in such act would have he/her admission withdrawn. 

The Provost congratulated the matriculating students for being among the lucky few who scaled through the various selection processes and urged them to work hard stressing that these vices may mar their sojourn in this institution. 

She noted that available statistics show that the institution had continued to receive large number of applications for admission on a yearly basis due to its academic strides. 

Her words: “We are urging you all to obey the rules and regulations of the institutions as the university authority has zero tolerance for any nefarious act and will apply sanctions against offenders.

“I encourage you all to be decent and shun evil vices like cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, exam malpractices immoral activities and forgery that may mar your sojourn in this institution warning that any students found in any of this acts will be expelled and also handed over to the police.”

She further advised students to make out time to engage in sports and scholarly lectures to enhance their academic performance.

She enumerated some breakthrough the institution has recorded within her short time as Provost which include infrastructural and structural development, internal roads, among others promising to maintain enabling environment that will promote conducive academic learning.

The Provost urged the students to make brilliant use of the facilities in the institution for their academics profitability reminding them that their primary aim of being in the institution is to acquire knowledge.

She lauded the staffs and students for the supports given to her administration since she assumed office saying that being the Provost of the institution is another experience in life.

The Institution matriculated over 1,000 students in both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma.
