Police nabs 65 suspects linked to Kaduna violent clash

The Kaduna State Government on Tuesday announced that the police has arrested at least 65 suspects linked to the violence that occurred in the state.
The crisis which broke out on Monday, February 26 at Kasuwa Magani village in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state resulted in the loss of lives and properties worth millions of naira homes with places of worship and vehicles burnt.
Spokesman of the Kaduna State government, Samuel Aruwan told journalists at the government house in Kaduna that the suspects were found culpable of direct and indirect participation in the killing of innocent people and destruction of property during the crisis.
12 people were reported killed and many others injured in the crisis. Aruwan said the suspects have been charged to court with offences of conspiracy, illegal possession of arms, culpable homicide among other charges.
The deployment of security operatives to Kasuwa Magani and other neighbouring communities, Aruwan claimed, have brought normalcy to the area. He added that suspects have been arraigned in court. The State Emergency Management Agency has also been deployed to supply relief materials render other assistance to displaced persons.
“In fact, 65 persons have been charged before a Magistrate’s court in Kaduna. All the suspects have been remanded in Kaduna Prison custody and the case adjourned to the 15th, March 2018, he said.
Aruwan said nobody will be allowed to use religion or ethnicity to justify criminal conduct in the state. (Channels TV)
