Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has cried out to God after unknown assailants invaded parts of the North-West Nigerian state earlier today, killing perhaps up to 150 perhaps, according to some reports which are yet to be confirmed.
“God should expose the merchants of darkness, who are bent on sowing seeds of confusion and hate in the state,” Yero said in a statement signed by his Director General, Media and Publicity, Ahmed Maiyaki.
“We pray that God should expose the people that are causing this problem. We pray that God should touch their hearts to stop such dastardly acts or destroy their evil machinations,” the governor added.
He condemned attack on communities of Kaura Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna,
described it as “ungodly and barbaric.”
The governor expressed deep sadness and shock over the unwarranted attacks on innocent citizens of the state.
He condoled victims of the attacks and assured them of government’s commitment to protecting lives and property of the entire people of the state.
He called on people in the communities to remain calm as government is already working with security agencies towards scaling up its strategies in order to improve security, especially in border communities.
“This ugly situation is unacceptable and we will step up efforts to improve surveillance and curtail future occurrence,” he said.
The governor, who vowed to bring the perpetrators of the attacks to justice, has ordered full investigation and has promised to empower community surveillance by vigilante groups in areas that have become prone to such ugly incidences, to complement formal security arrangements towards forestalling re occurrence.
The governor called on the entire people of Kaduna State to forge stronger bonds and remain united in ensuring the triumph of good over evil adding “we must not despair under this brazen attacks, as a leader, I am not happy with such ugly situations because it is my responsibility to ensure Security and safety for the entire people of the state.”
