Nwamba said the people of the area were so pleased with Gov. Ugwuanyi owing to his community development efforts.
“Our people are so happy and want to appreciate the Governor for his commitment towards the development of our place.
“Apart from the creation of new autonomous communities, he has also appointed several of our people into very prominent positions. We are also not left out in community development programmes,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ugwuanyi reiterated his administration’s commitment to take decisions that would rapidly develop the state as well as bring governance closer to the doorsteps of the rural dwellers, especially the long neglected.
Ugwuanyi added that the resolve to make lives more meaningful for the people of the state, especially those in the rural areas through his administration’s transformational and rural development policies remains high on the agenda.
The Governor noted that it was in line with his administration’s rural development policy that autonomy was granted to the “resourceful community.”
He saluted the people of the community for ending their sixteen-year campaign for the coveted status to be autonomous.
Ugwuanyi disclosed that the exercise for the election of Igwe Odo, whom he described as “a renowned elder statesman, educationist, administrator, and community leader”, was transparent and supervised by the state government.
According to him, “Following this development and in accordance with the Chieftaincy Laws of Enugu State, I have come here today, to formally present to Chief Fredrick Odo, his Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office as the Traditional Ruler of Eha-Etiti Autonomous Community, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.”
While congratulating the new traditional ruler on his “well-deserved” election and receipt of his Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office, Ugwuanyi assured the Igwe and the entire people of the community that his administration will give them the needed support and attention to ensure that they benefit fully from the rural development agenda of the state government.
The governor, therefore, urged the members of the community to give the traditional ruler, who is the father of the Chairman of Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, Prince Emeka Odo, maximum support and remain peaceful, united and fully committed to the rapid development of the community in particular and the state in general.
Also at the event, the governor was conferred with a chieftaincy title of ‘Anyanwu na Ehalumona’ by all the traditional rulers in Ehalumona clan in recognition of his good works in the state.
