Labour leader killed in Osun fire tragedy

The inferno that swept through some shops at Odeyinka road Ikire, Osun State has taken the life of the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) in Ayedaade Local Government Area, Mr Tajudeen Alabi.

The Chairman of Ayedaade Local Government, Basir Oduwole, confirmed the incident.

Basir explained that the deceased who was one of the shop owners at Odeyinka road was in his shop when the fire incident occurred and consumed him.

Property worth millions of naira, belonging to Alabi and other shop owners, were destroyed by the inferno.

One of the residents of Ikire, Yinka said the fire started when power supply was restored to the area.

He said: “When they brought the light, it caused fire. Mr Alabi was in his shop. He could not escape. He died in his shop. It was an unfortunate incident.

Several people sustained injury but it could not be ascertained if any other person died in fire incident.  (Daily Trust)
