A human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, has thrown his weight behind the recent Special Statement released to the public by a former Nigeria President, Chief (Dr.) Olusegun Obasanjo, warning President Muhammadu Buhari against his re-election bid in 2019 and poor performance in office since May 29, 2015.

Sulaiman also warned Mr. Itse Sagay, former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu and others who are throwing blames at Obasanjo for telling Buhari the home truth to tender unreserved apology to the former president.

He saluted the uncommon courage of Obasanjo to always speak the truth to the powers that be in the land.

The activist, however, called on Obasanjo to use his connection in the international community to report the flaws of the present administration in Nigeria to the comity of nations in order to join hands to stop the re-election bid of President Buhari in 2019 for the sake of the Nigeria masses.

He urged Obasanjo not to forget to deliver his ‘Special Statement’ to African leaders in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during the ongoing  30th Ordinary Session of the

Assembly of Heads of States and Government of the African Union (AU).

Sulaiman who commended Obasanjo for capturing the minds of Nigerians in the statement, insisted that the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government has failed woefully in all areas of governance in the country.

He urged Buhari to heed the advice given to him by Obasanjo.

The activist described Obasanjo’s statement as a good development to checkmate the misgovernance of the ruling APC.

He condemned those who are abusing Obasanjo over the action and tagged them as enemies of Nigeria masses.

Sulaiman, who is the Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), urged Buhari to quit the stage when the ovation is loud.

According to him, “The contents of Obasanjo’s statement are statement of facts.

“If Nigerians fail to stop President Buhari in 2019, he might stop the success, progress, development and future of Nigerians at home and abroad. It is crystal clear that some clueless cabals have taken over the life and soul of the Buhari’s government since 2015.”

The rights activist also condemned what he viewed as grave injustice and nepotism of the highest order that pervades the present administration, advising Obasanjo to stop supporting any incompetent personality like President Buhari as presidential candidate in future polls.

Sulaiman recalled that Buhari as APC presidential candidate had on March 4th, 2015, described former President Obasanjo as a courageous patriot who tells the truth to power when he is convinced that leaders are going wrong.

He quoted Buhari as having said, “The former president is a nationalist whose commitment to democracy and good governance are worthy of recognition and praise.”

He further described Sagay, Kalu and their cohorts as birds of the same feather that flock together by throwing the majority and masses interest into the wind, adding that some of them have skeletons in their cupboard which they are using Buhari’s Presidency to cover up.

“It is astonishing that despite the wanton killings of innocent Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen; long queues of Nigerians at filling stations despite a 120 percent increment in the price of petrol; geometrical loss of jobs; disobedience to court orders; hike in prices of food stuff; selective and biased anti-corruption fight; inability to have a grip on office and lack of respect for democratic norms and values, some selfish politicians who are looking for political survival and unnecessary recognition are still calling on Buhari to re-contest in 2019,” Sulaiman submitted.
