The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, His Eminence Cardinal John Onaiyekan on Saturday sought for God’s intervention in the killings by gunmen in Benue State.
Onaiyekan made the remark in Otukpo at a special service to dedicate Saints Augustine’s Catholic Church, Otukpo, built by former Senate President David Mark and donated to Otukpo diocese, while praying God for an end to recent killings in parts of the state.
The clergy urged aggrieved parties to give peace a chance and called on the government to provide lasting solution to the lingering crisis as he commended Senator Mark for committing his resources to build a temple for the worship of God.
The Bishop of Otukpo Diocese, Michael Akpochi, in his sermon, called on the people to hold on to God for answer to their prayers especially in the face of the security challenges facing the country.
Responding, Mark appreciated God for giving him the opportunity to build a worship house which, according to him, was an appreciation for what He has done for him and his family. (Daily Trust)
