Some members of a dare-devil kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate in Niger State recently arrested by crack operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have confessed that they killed those who could not pay ransom and drank their blood. They made the shocking confession while being paraded on Tuesday at Force Headquarters Abuja.
Police Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, while addressing newsmen at the occasion, said that 16 members of a “vicious” kidnapping and armed robbery gang terrorising Nigerians along Abuja-Kaduna road were arrested in Sabon Wuse in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger.
He said the gang leader, Ibrahim Umar, also confessed to have killed 10 persons during their operations.
Moshood named the other suspects to include Isiaka Mohammed, Hassan Usman, Mubarak Adamu, Yisuf Sani, Musa Usman, Yakubu Wakili, and Abdullahi Abdulkarim among others.
He said items recovered from the suspects were five AK47 rifles, nine AK47 magazines, two cutlasses, one cell phone and 1,598 rounds of ammunition.
The Police Spokesman said the arrest followed a coordinated operation during the Yuletide by the Special Tactical Squad operating in the area.
He disclosed that the suspects have all confessed to the roles they played in the crime, saying that they would be arraigned in court after the completion of investigation.
Jimoh maintained that the force has evolved new security arrangement to fight and prevent crimes in the country in the New Year.
