The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign state of Biafra (MASSOB), in a statement on Sunday, lambasted the Federal Government for its alleged insensitivity and failure to exhibit “true governance that will sustain social stability, increase infrastructural development and improve health care of the citizens.”
The group described President Muhammadu Buhari's governance style and policies, including the ethno-religious sentiments of the administration as the worst in the fragile history of Nigeria.
In a statement made available to journalists in Awka and signed by MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, the group said: “MASSOB is truly comfortable with the present system because it justifies and eulogises our self determination struggle for Biafra actualisation and restoration.
“MASSOB disagrees with President Buhari that Nigeria has survived. Nigeria can never survive the heat of Biafra as long the people of Biafra and Christians are being oppressed and religiously stigmatised.
“We also wish to remind President Buhari that he still remains the last President of united Nigeria because this geographical expression called Nigeria will certainly collapse in 2019.
“In 2018, as politicians are planning and warming up for the 2019 general elections, the coalition of Biafra agitators will be executing the Biafra referendum programmes, even the leading agitators of restructuring of Nigeria state will add more value.”
MASSOB described the continuous fuel scarcity as the handiwork of the President Buhari-led Federal Government which, according to the group, always promote and sustain Islamic agenda in Nigeria.
Continuing, the statement reads: “The artificial fuel scarcity is just to punish the Christians, mostly the people of Biafra that will travel to their homelands.
“It is also to frustrate and disorganise the Christmas celebration. Why is it that it is only during Christmas seasons that this sudden fuel scarcity erupts?
“Why is it that during Islamic festival periods, this sudden fuel scarcity does not exist? No matter the high levels of this stigmatisation, subjections, intimidations and economic sabotage against the people of Biafra and Christians, we will never succumb or bow to the pressures of our oppressors.”
