The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday warned its members aggrieved over the outcome of the party’s recently concluded National Convention to embrace the ongoing peace moves or face serious sanctions.

A group of stakeholders had on Wednesday claimed to be the new national leadership of the party and had gone ahead to open its own national secretariat in Abuja.

But while addressing a press conference at the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the party, its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kola Ologbodiyan, said the party was intent on reconciling with all its dissatisfied members but would not allow any splinter group to distract it.

He therefore admonished the disgruntled members to embrace the ongoing peace moves led by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state or be prepared to face the consequences.

According to him, “We urge any of our members who might feel strongly about the outcome of the generally accepted National Convention to explore the opportunities provided by the Governor Dickson’s Reconciliation Committee in line with the constitution of our great party.

“Thereafter, any person who for any selfish reason resort to the ignoble part of attempting to create disaffection and disunity in our party will be made to face the consequences of his or her actions as provided for in the constitution of our great party and extant laws of the land

“A word, they say, is enough for the wise!

“The PDP remains a highly responsible and law abiding party, with level playing ground for all to aspire for any position but on no account should we as members submit ourselves to the manipulations of the ruling party to be used as agents of destabilisation.”

Ologbondiyan accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being the one behind the new group having failed woefully to scuttle the National Convention and as failed its move to sow discord seeds in the South- West Zone of the Party after the Convention.

He stated that PDP under the leader of Prince Uche Secodus was more than ready to face APC squarely in the 2019 general elections and flush out of power

The PDP Spokesman lashed out at the ruling party over its alleged determination to silence the opposition, especially PDP. He said: “The APC is troubled because of the huge success of our National Convention; we will match them for all their antics

“The party will go into the 2019‎ general elections empty; I think the party should be preparing its handing over note by now having failed in all its promises to the nation.”
