In her continued support to the welfare of prison inmates in Bauchi State, the wife of the Governor has requested for the list of 50 prison inmates with option of fine and compensation for immediate payment.

Barrister Aisha M.A. Abubakar noted that she intended to pay for their fines in the spirit of the festive period to enable them celebrate the Yuletide with their families at home.

The Governor’s wife emphasised that assisting the inmates and the less privileged was part of the agenda of her pet project, the Brilliant Girl Child initiative which is in tandem with Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar’s people-oriented programmes.

In his remarks, the Controller of Prisons at the Bauchi State Command, Sulaiman T Sulaiman commended the Governor’s wife “for her numerous interventions to prisons in the state.” He recalled that she had paid fines and compensation to 42 inmates in the state last year.  She later enrolled them into Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity for vocational training and provided them with vocational tools after graduation.

Sulaiman assured the Governor’s wife that the list would be made available to her as soon as possible. He prayed for the success of her husband's tenure.
