PDP Sweeps Akwa Ibom council polls

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recorded a landslide victory in the Akwa Ibom local government council elections, as it won in all the 31 local government areas of the state.

This is as the PDP councillorship candidates also won all 329 wards

The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) has directed winners to report and receive their certificates of return today, December 4.

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has congratulated the winners of the Local Government Council elections that took place on Saturday December 2, 2017 where the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won a decisive and landslide victory across the 31 Local Government Councils and the 329 Wards in the state.

In a release by his chief press secretary, Ekerete Udoh, the Governor thanked the people of the State for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the election.

“I want to thank and commend the good people of Akwa Ibom State for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves, during the elections even in the face of provocations by certain elements who were bent on fomenting trouble. By this act, we have again proved to the world that elections can be conducted under peaceful atmosphere.

“The people came out in  thousands and voted massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates and this, again,  is a testament to the fact that Akwa Ibom State is, and will always remain a decidedly PDP State. I congratulate the Chairmen-elect of the 31 Local Government Councils and the 329 Councillors-elect as well. The people have spoken and their will again, has prevailed.” (LEADERSHIP)
