Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick, his Basketball counterpart, Ahmadu Musa Kida and Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr have been shortlisted for honours at the Nigerian Awards for Sporting Excellence (NASE) holding this Saturday at Airport Hotel, Ikeja Lagos.

Others are Chairman of SCOA Plc, Chief Henry Agbamu; Chairman, El-Kanemi FC of Maiduguri, Alhaji Zannah Mala-Kakaje; Director of Sports, Federal Capital Territory, Chief (Mrs.) Dili Onyedinma; National Chairman, Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba; and Chairman of BJ Foundation FC of Benin City, Coach Douglas Idahosa.

A statement on Tuesday by the organisers stated that all is set for the awards designed to reward Nigerian sportsmen, women and administrators who excel in any given year, as well as corporate bodies contributing significantly to the development and growth of Nigerian sports.

“This is easily Nigeria’s biggest sports awards and we are ready to mount an award whose memory would keep reverberating in the minds of sporting Nigerians and beyond for a long time to come. We anticipates great outing,” said Chairman of the Award Committee, Prince Isidore Oduah.

The organisers had earlier in the week announced other nominees, among them Super Eagles skipper Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Obafemi Martins, goalkeepers Carl Ikeme and Ikechukwu Ezenwa; goal queen Asisat Oshoala; and tennis sensation Aruna Quadri.

Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, and Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima are also scheduled to be honoured for their contributions towards the development of sports in the country.
