Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has described the late Vice-President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, as a great and exceptional leader who played politics without bitterness.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, the Governor said that he received the news of Ekwueme’s death with a deep sense of loss.

Sani-Bello said Ekwueme contributed significantly to national development and history would remember the late Aguata-born elderstatesman as a man who stood for the unity and oneness of the nation.

He lauded his hard work, commitment and dedication to the development of the nation during his lifetime.

The Governor prayed to the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.

Sani-Bello also commiserated with the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obaino and the good people of the state over the death of the former Second Republic Vice President.
