The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has said that it would deploy no fewer than four drones, 300 dogs and 11,000 personnel from seven states for the conduct of November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

Disclosing this to journalists in Awka, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. John Ahwen, said the personnel would be deployed from the neighbouring states of Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Delta, Edo and Rivers.

He disclosed that ambulances and medical team as well as 115 vehicles would also be deployed – 15 of them in the riverine areas of the state.

Ahwen said the Deputy Commandant-General in charge of Operations, Mr. Hillary Madu, would lead the operation while two Assistant Commandants-General would assist him.

While calling on the state electorates to come out en-masse to participate in the election without any fear of molestation, the NSCDC boss added: “The people of the state should feel free and secure to exercise their franchise during the election because the security agencies are out to protect them.”

Similarly, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, has assured of conclusion of arrangements for effective policing of the state during the election.

He called on all stakeholders including politicians to play according to the rules or be prepared to face the law.

He warned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who had threatened to disrupt the election in the state, to steer clear or be crushed.
