President Muhammadu Buhari says he is deeply grieved to learn of the passing away of Jide Tinubu, eldest son of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
In a telephone call on Wednesday to Asiwaju Tinubu, President Buhari, on behalf of the Federal Government and his family, offered his deepest condolences to the Tinubu family.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, stated that Buhari described Jide's transition as “sad and painful.”
The President said that the nation had been denied the services and potentials of the resourceful lawyer.
He prayed that God would grant the Tinubu family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, and comfort all who mourned the passage of the promising gentleman.
Jide Tinubu was a graduate of the University of Liverpool, England. He obtained Master's Degree in Maritime Law from the University of London, and was called to Nigerian Bar in 1999.
Commiserating with Tinubu, the Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said in a statement: “I commiserate with our national leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the demise of his son Jide.
“I was shocked to receive the sad news of the sudden death of Deji Tinubu.
“The late Deji was a lawyer of high repute who cut his teeth in the maritime sector and was hardworking and enterprising.
“It is saddening that a father buries his son. I can only imagine your pain and grief at this time.”
Dogara prayed that God Almighty would grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The Lagos State chapter of the APC also condoled Tinubu.
The state chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale expressed the party’s condolences in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said the chapter was devastated by the sad news, while describing the incident as unfortunate.
“This is a very unfortunate incident and we are so devastated by this sad news.
“We commiserate with our great national leader, Tinubu on this great loss and we pray God will grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said.
Ajomale said he was personally pained by the demise of Jide as he was very close to the family.
