The Imo State Government, South-East Nigeria, has expressed shock over the killing of Prince Noel Tochukwu Unegbu, a US-based entertainment promoter, by unknown gunmen in his hostel room in the state capital, Owerri.
Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Special Duties, Sir Jude Ejiogu, described the killing of Unegbu as callous, wicked and immoral.
Sir Ejiogu in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ikenna Onuoha, described late Tochukwu Unegbu as one of the promising Imo youths with abundance of talents. He regretted that Unegbu was murdered at his prime and appealed to all security agencies in the state to get to the root of the matter.
The Chief of Staff in the statement, a copy of which was made available to News Express, decried the rate of impunity in the society, assuring that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring proper investigation and prosecution of culprits if apprehended.
Sir Ejiogu called on anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the assassins to please report to relevant authorities. He pleaded with members of the deceased family to take solace in the Lord.
The Chief of Staff appealed to Imo youths who are seething with rage over Unegbu’s murder to remain calm and shun any act capable of pre-empting the ongoing investigation by security agencies into the heinous act.
News express reports that Unegbu, who had returned home to conclude preparations for his pet project, ‘Imo Got Talent’, was found dead in his room in Rapour Hotel last week Tuesday, February 4. He hailed in Akokwa, Ideato North LGA, and was based in Houston, Texas, where he came up with the idea of a local variant of the popular ‘America’s Got Talent’ reality show.
