The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has invited the first set of young Nigerian start-up organisations to Germany for interaction with German companies.
Ms Lotte Goos, Head of New Economy and Start-ups for the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, said on Monday in Lagos that German companies were becoming interested in Nigerian Start-ups.
Goos told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the pre-departure seminar for the start-ups in Lagos that German companies were enthused to showcase Nigerian start-ups’ innovation in Germany.
“We can really say that things are really beginning to happen between Germany and Nigeria.
“We are sending the first set of Nigerian Start-ups to Germany to for more exposure, and to enable them to interact with and learn more from different German companies.
“We are really proud to want to showcase Nigerians innovations across Germany,” she said.
According to her, most German companies are beginning to see the need to look for innovative opportunities in Nigeria and other African countries.
The German government’s official also expressed the willingness of the German companies to share their expertise with the visiting Nigerians Start-ups.
Goos said that there was currently a realisation of the growing opportunities for Nigeria and Germany collaboration in the technology space.
“Most German companies are beginning to realise that if they do not look at innovative opportunities in Nigeria and other African countries, they will definitely be missing out.
“So, they have started to offer opportunities for partnership with these Nigerian start-ups.
“And after this first set of carefully selected start-ups, more and more Nigerian start-ups will be visiting Germany in the years ahead,” she said. (NAN)
