The Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL) has called on the people of former Eastern region to boycott Sunday's independence celebration.

In a statement made available and jointly signed by the Leaders of BNYL, Princewill Obuka and Ebuta Ogar Takon, BNYL urged the South East and South South regions to shun October 1 ceremonies, stating that there was nothing to celebrate about Nigeria.

BNYL also dismissed Arewa quite notice, warning that intimidation and sponsored attacks against “our business men and women residing in the North could provoke Biafrans.”

Continuing, BNYL advised members and followers of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) to remain calm, adding that nothing would happen to its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Meanwhile, BNYL said it would be marking October 1 with the people of Southern Cameroons and has urged its members and followers to follow suit.

In an earlier report, Southern Cameroons separatists had announced that they were in alliance with BNYL.

Recently, Cameroonian authorities had closed Ekok and Bakassi borders to prevent infiltration from separatist groups in Nigeria.
