The former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, on Sunday said that securing a second term in office is very easy only when there are good works on ground, noting that with good works people would back one’s ambition.

He made the statement during the “Thank You” tour of the zones in Anambra State by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, for the November 18, 2017 governorship election, Mr. Oseloka Obaze.

Obi who stole the show at every local government visited called on the party faithful to preach the good news everywhere that the PDP candidate is the only person that will work to improve the status of the status of state is the person to support.

“Second term is very easy only if you have works on ground to speak for you. When you do a good job, people will naturally want to have you back.

“What I am interested in is someone that has the will to work for the people of Anambra. A lot of the projects I left unfinished like Awka Shoprite and others have been abandoned even when money for the completion was left behind.

“Like it is being propagated in the media, I am not quarrelling with anybody. If they tell you I am quarrelling with anybody or demanding for money, tell them it is lie. I came to this world with nothing and I will leave with nothing.

“If I had wanted money they said I am asking for, I could have easily taken it and leave the balance. I don’t need to go to anybody to ask for it. It’s all a lie, Ask yourself, why wasn’t this issue of me making demand for raised in 2015, 2016, you ask why now. It’s all aimed at discrediting me.”

While saying that he will work assiduously for the victory of his party come Nov. 18, Obi said that he was confident that Obaze would return Anambra to the development trajectory he left it having served meritoriously as international civil servant and being part of the success story of the state.

Addressing PDP faithful that trooped out to receive their own at the 21 local government areas of the state, the governorship candidate, Obaze thanked the delegates for massively nominating him as the party’s candidate during its primary on Aug 28th at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center.

Speaking at Anaku, Anyamelum Local Government, Obaze reminded the wards and council executive of the party in the state that the journey to the Anambra Government House had begun and urged them to put all hands on deck to ensure victory for PDP at the polls.

The PDP candidate assured the people of the state that he would not leave any part of the state unattended to when elected, saying that he was on a mission to restore the glory days of Anambra.

Obaze said his running mate, Onyemelukwe, who is the daughter of former Vice President, Dr Alex Ekwueme was a worthy choice adding she is a woman of immense intellect, experience and ability.

He said: “Both of us are in a journey to rescue Anambra and return her to the part of purpose driven leadership.

In her remark, Onyemelukwe said that what the state needed were God-fearing leaders who understood the needs of the people governed and are sensitive to their plight.

She assured women of a greater participation in the polity urging them to support the PDP team so that a woman can be where issues that concern them are decided.
