Military ignores public outcry, proceeds with Python Dance in South-East

Operation Python Dance II (Exercise Egwu Eke II), the special military exercise in Nigeria’s in the South-East widely condemned across Nigeria, will go ahead as planned.

Exercise Egwu Eke II will run from September 15 to October 14, 2017 simultaneously in Abia, Anambra, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states, the Nigerian Army said on Wednesday.

Colonel Sagir Musa, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division Nigerian Army, said in a statement: “In our efforts to carry members of the public along, email addresses, Facebook and Twitter accounts have been created for the exercise.”

He gave the addresses as: Email address:

Facebook account’s name: Egwu Eke II, which can be searched through URL;

The twitter handle is @egwueke2, which can be searched through URL;

The Army said, in addition to its Information and Call Centre Telephone Number 193 (Using all Networks toll free) and Human Right Desk Number 08160134303, the under listed cell phone numbers are also hereby provided as dedicated public telephone numbers to members of the public who might have reason to pass credible information or reasonable complains to various Commanders of Exercise EGWU EKE 11;
