Christian Aid commences training for journalists in south-East

A three-day training workshop for media practitioners in the South-East states has commenced in Enugu with a call to journalists to hold people in governance accountable.

The training, organised by Christian Aid Nigeria in collaboration with Development Communications (DEVCOMS) is tagged “Voice to the People” (V2P). It is aimed at build the capacity of communities to achieve more accountable, transparent and evidence-informed governments that prioritise the sustainable delivery of public goods and services in response to citizens’ needs.

This programme, according to the Senior Programme Coordinator and Governance, Mrs Uzor Uzoma, would enhance relationships between media gatekeepers, Christian Aid and her partners working with women, adolescent girls and communities in the southeast to address these issues, thereby enabling them to report both sectors from an in-depth perspective. 

Christian Aid Nigeria and DEVCOMS’ through both projects is seeking to devise measures that improve the lives and conditions of targeted groups through building the capacity of local media organisations and journalists in reporting developmental issues.
