A former Representative of Nigeria at the ECOWAS Parliament, Senator Olugbenga Obadara, has called on Nigerians to pray for the nation during the Sallah period.
Obadara made the call in a statement made available to Journalists on Thursday, insisting that the nation needs prayers during this trying time.
The Senator further called on Nigerians to avoid wasteful spending during this economic recession, requesting that they look in the direction of solutions rather than complaints.
He said: “We need to start looking for solutions. We must take advantage of this time to beg God to take us out of recession. Let us stop focusing on and complaining about our problems.
“Beside praying to God to help us, we must also help ourselves. We must avoid wasteful spending during this trying period.”
While felicitating with Muslim faithful in the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, the former legislator also said that “those who live in luxury should remember that some others dwell in penury.
“We must beg the militants and Boko Haram fighters to replace the bombs and weapons with tractors. Let us welcome peace as one Nigeria.
“Lastly we need to bear in mind that the decisions we make now will affect the situation we will find ourselves soon.”
He stressed the need for good leadership across board as a panacea for the nation’s economic woes. The former legislator said: “Bad politicians are made, not only by those who vote wrongly, but also by people who do not vote.”
