Hon. Tony Nwoye early Sunday afternoon was poised to emerge the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State.

He took an early lead in the vote count, beating 10 other contestants, including the second-placed Senator Andy Ubah, during the primary election held on Saturday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

Collation of results is still ongoing, after which the winer would be formally announced.

The venue and the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, where the accreditation of delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state was held from noon yesterday, witnessed heavy presence of police and civil defence personnel deployed there to maintain law and order.

The primary election was supervised by a committee headed by Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima.
