Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) last Saturday commenced sensitisation of the general public on the installation of pre-paid meters across the state.

The exercise was held in Lekki, Ikoyi, Dolphin, Victoria Island and Alexander on Day 1.

Briefing the media on the exercise, LWC Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Badmus said installation of the prepaid meters in every household in the state would ensure accurate and efficient billing of customers in line with the present administration’s policy.

The LWC boss reiterated that the sensitisation exercise would soon be extended to other areas such as Magodo, Omole, MKO Abiola Gardens, Ikeja, Surulere, Itire, Iwaya, Yaba/Ebute Metta and other areas of the state.

According to him, “This is a follow-up to the ongoing installation of prepaid meters in the earlier areas mentioned. LWC staff, contractors and consultants are already on the field for the installation, and customer education on the metering scheme.”

He charged the staff to be committed towards the success of the metering scheme and be of good behaviour to the customers, as well as attend to their comments, inquiries and complaints.

While soliciting for the support of the public on the mandatory meter installation, Badmus warned criminally-minded individuals to desist from tampering with the water meters, as anybody caught in the act would be prosecuted according to the existing laws of the state.
